Outside of the United States, there is currently no country playing stronger golf in the world than Australia. So it makes sense that they have a strong duo playing in 2024. While there’s only two Aussie players in the field, both are highly ranked and highly accomplished golfers, looking for a gold medal to add to their resumé:

HANNAH GREEN

If not for Nelly Korda’s dominance on the LPGA Tour in 2024, Hannah Green would be the favorite for Player of the Year. Green is the No. 7 player in the Rolex Rankings, having won two events in 2024, the HSBC Women’s World Championship and the JM Eagle LA Championship. Because of those two wins, plus her runner-up finish at the Mizuho Americas Open, she is ranked No. 2 in the CME Standings. The one-time major champion has five career wins on the LPGA Tour, and will be making her second appearance in the Olympics. In 2021, in Tokyo, Green finished in a tie for fifth place.

MINJEE LEE

Minjee Lee, at her best, is one of the best golfers in the world. She unfortunately has not been at her best throughout much of 2024. Still, Lee is a 10-time LPGA Tour winner with two major championship titles to her name. This will be Lee’s third time playing in the Olympics, where she placed in the top 10 in 2016. Lee has no weakness, being arguably the best iron player in women’s golf. The No. 11 player in the world has been trending up as of late, with top-25 finishes in four of her last five events played. Lee will be playing alongside her brother in 2024, Min Woo, who has become a viral sensation in men’s golf and will be representing Australia in that competition.

This duo has a lot of upside, both being established winners on the LPGA Tour. Look out for Australia to crash the medal stand in 2024.
