The new Rolex Rankings are out, which means we have our final Olympic Rankings.
The three big question marks concerned arguably the three best countries for women’s golf in the world, Japan, South Korea and the United States.
For Japan, Miyu Yamashita, a full-time player on the JLPGA, moved ahead of LPGA Tour stars Nasa Hataoka and Ayaka Furue with her second-place finish at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Yamashita is the face of consistency, never finishing lower than 20 in 16 starts this season. She is expected to attempt making the LPGA Tour in 2025. She joins No. 10 Yuka Saso.
South Korea was the big winner of the morning, with Amy Yang vaulting up in the Rolex Rankings with her first major championship victory. Korea has three players now as Yang joins No. 3 Jin Young Ko and No. 13 Hyo Joo Kim.
The United States and Ally Ewing weren’t as lucky. The United States had three players with a realistic shot at being a fourth competitor for the country. Alison Lee, Megan Khang or Ally Ewing needed a good week to get in the field. Ewing did indeed have a third very good tournament in a row, finishing in a tie for fifth, her third consecutive top-five finish. Ewing moved up three spots in the world rankings, but is one spot short at No. 16. The bright side for Ewing, she has likely clinched her fourth Solheim Cup appearance in a row.
