After one round of the PNC Championship, Team Korda, Team Stricker and Team Annika are still in contention entering the second and final day.
The PNC Championship, played annually in Orlando, features pairings of a major champion and either one of their parents or one of their children. In 2025, there are three teams involving women’s golfers. Nelly Korda and her dad Petr, Annika Sörenstam and her son Will and Steve Stricker and his daughter Izzi.
The Strickers got off to a strong start in this scramble format, making seven birdies on the front nine, including six in a row from holes 2-7. They were solid on the back, making five birdies including on the par 5 18 to finish their round up at -12, three strokes back of the leaders Team Kuchar, but in a tie for third.
Also tied for third is Team Korda, who got off to an interesting start, with three pars on the first four holes, but did make a birdie on the third hole, the first par five on the course. Starting on hole five, the Kordas raced up the leaderboard with seven birdies in a row to get to -9 thru 11. They slowed from there, making just three birdies on the last seven holes, but remain in good position, tied with the Strickers at -12.
The Sörenstams sit just one back of that tie for third place after shooting -11. They made six birdies on the front nine and five on the back, and played a solid, consistent round. They are four back of the lead and still within striking distance.
Matt Kuchar and his son sit in first at -15, while Jon Daly and his son, two of the stars of this event, are two strokes back at -13.
