The newest edition of the Rolex Rankings are out, and the suspense around the No. 1 spot has recently been not who is in the spot, but by just how wide of a margin there is.
Nelly Korda is still No. 1 for the eighth straight week, her 45th career week in the position. While Korda came into the season ranked No. 5, her incredible six wins have propelled her to a commanding No. 1 position.
How commanding is this lead exactly? Well her average points are at 13.12, as opposed to No. 2 Lilia Vu who has 6.32. This means that technically, the lowest ranked player at No. 1620, is closer to being ranked No. 2 than Vu is being ranked No. 1.
Now of course, this doesn’t mean that a low ranked player is more likely to jump into the second position, but it does put in perspective how dominant Korda has been.
Elsewhere in the rankings, Hannah Green’s runner-up finish has propelled her to a career high No. 5 in the rankings, once again surpassing Minjee Lee as the highest ranked Australian in the world.
One of the biggest movers was Alexandra Forsterling, who moved up 15 spots, becoming the highest ranked German in the world at No. 56. Over the weekend, she quietly won her fourth LET event in the last year, this time in her home country. Forsterling is also currently in position to take one of the LET spots for the European Solheim Cup standings.
