Sarah Schmelzel and Lindy Duncan were paired together for the first two rounds of The Chevron Championship in 2025, and they played off each other’s momentum well.

Both players, who are experienced, long term LPGA Tour players, are looking for their first career wins, and they are in prime position despite playing in the tougher time slot this week of afternoon-morning. Because of rain delays, their rounds were more unpredictable, and the scores were higher, but the two Americans performed phenomenally.

Schmelzel, who sits at -6 through the first two rounds, shot a -4 68 on Friday . The 2024 Solheim Cup player made six birdies with two bogeys, while hitting 11 fairways and 12 greens. The 30-year-old from Arizona had only 26 putts for her round.

Duncan, a 34-year-old from Florida who went to Duke, shot a fantastic -6 66 in the second round to put herself into contention at -6 for the event. She made eight birdies with two bogeys, hit 11 fairways and 13 greens and only needed 24 putts to get through her round.

At the time of publishing, these two American players are tied with Mao Saigo, Hyo Joo Kim, Manon De Roey and Haeran Ryu for first place. There is plenty of time though before the first half of the tournament is over.
