12-time LPGA Tour champion Sei Young Kim is off to a phenomenal start through the first two rounds at the FM Championship at TPC Boston.
After a first round where Kim made seven birdies without a single dropped shot, she matched that -7 score to get to -14 for the week. During the second round, which took place over Friday and Saturday morning because of five hours of rain delays, Kim made six birdies, an eagle and one bogey.
It isn’t hard to see where Kim’s success is coming from. Kim isn’t traditionally known for her consistency off the tee, finishing outside of the top 100 in driving accuracy every year since 2021. Through the first two rounds in Boston, Kim has hit 25/28 fairways.
Of course, it isn’t only the driving accuracy that has driven Kim to her incredible rounds. Kim has also hit 30/36 greens in regulation and only has only needed 53 putts.
Kim is looking for her first title since 2020, when she won the LPGA Tour Player of the Year with two wins including a major championship at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. She has been trending well as of late though, with three top-13 finishes in a row and five top-13 finishes since the start of June.
Three strokes back of Kim is Miranda Wang, a rookie from China looking for her first win. She has had some good moments this season, including two top-10 finishes, one of which was a third place at the Dow Championship alongside Lindy Duncan.
