In her home country, Sei Young Kim is continuing to look very strong at the BMW Ladies Championship, shooting -6 in the second round to get to -16 for the tournament.
Kim started a bit rough in her second round, coming off an incredible -10 on the first day. She was +1 through five holes with a bogey and no birdies.
As happens with Kim, she turned her day around quick though, with three birdies in a row starting on hole six, bringing her first nine score to -2. She continued to play well on the back nine, making four more birdies without any dropped shots to get her second round score to -6.
Kim has been dominant, particularly with her ball striking thus far. She can have the tendency to get into trouble because of her aggressive style, but has managed to keep her ball well in play for the most part. She has only missed five total fairways and four total greens so far and is putting well with only 52 for the tournament.
Brooke Matthews, looking for her first-career win, is the closest competitor to Kim, sitting just one stroke back after shooting -8 in the second round. Combined with her -7 first round, Matthews is looking consistent this week with just three missed greens.
A loaded leaderboard follows the two at the top, including Rio Takeda, Hyo Joo Kim, Nasa Hataoka, Minjee Lee and Celine Boutier among other stars.
The third round kicks off tonight.
