One of the biggest reasons that the European team is deeper than ever with talent, is the shot in the arm given by two young and dominant Swedes in 2023, Linn Grant, and No. 12 on our list, Maja Stark.
Maja Stark has had an incredible career already. Since September of 2021 she has six wins on the Ladies European Tour and one on the LPGA Tour. In the past two seasons, she has two top-10 finishes in majors, including a runner-up at this season’s Chevron Championship.
Stark’s season has cooled significantly as of late, which is undoubtedly cause for concern. Though she had three top-three finishes in short order toward the beginning of the season, she hasn’t had a top-10 since April. Part of that can be chalked up to a relatively light schedule, but she always seems to have one round that really impacts her placement.
On the positive, Stark performed quite well in the 2023 Solheim Cup, her first appearance. She went 2-1-1 and paired nicely with Grant in foursomes play. She also won her Sunday singles match against Corpuz, who was in good form that week. It is also notable that her and Madelene Sagström performed relatively well in the 2023 International Crown, representing Sweden.
