Part of this ranking comes from confidence. Captain Suzann Pettersen throws out the world rankings when it comes to Emily Pedersen of Denmark, and I think that is fair.

Emily Pedersen won’t blow you away with her resumé. She is ranked No. 103 in the Rolex Rankings and No. 76 in the CME Standings. She hasn’t won on the LET since 2020 and she’s never won on the LPGA Tour. She has missed a startling nine cuts this season, including in seven of her last 10 starts.

All of that being said, there’s a confidence that comes with having Pedersen on a team. Over her last two Solheim Cup appearances, she is 5-3-1. She has shown success in all three formats, and an ability to be paired with a variety of players successfully.

Pedersen has always been a terrific striker of the golf ball, driving the ball about as well as anyone in this event. Interestingly, her putting has improved dramatically here in 2024, posting some of the best numbers of her career in that category. She is inconsistent with her approaches and short game, but shows enough elite ability that she can be a really big overachiever here.

Anyone who has watched Pedersen in the Solheim Cup or Olympics knows she possesses a different gear in these events. It would be a surprise to see her struggle in this one.
