Two-time major champion Stacy Lewis has announced her retirement from the LPGA Tour at the conclusion of the 2025 season.
In a lengthy statement posted to X (formerly Twitter) the week of the Northwest Arkansas Championship, the former Razorback said:
“I will finish out the 2025 season, but this will be my last on the LPGA. I’m not exactly sure what is next but I am so grateful for all the Arkansas fans and people that have supported me along the way!”
Lewis was one of the greatest college golfers ever in her time at Arkansas, being selected as a four time All American. She also won two SEC individual conference titles and won the NCAA Division I individual title.
Lewis technically won on the LPGA Tour for the first time as an amateur in Arkansas in 2007, but because of rain the event was shortened to only one round, and it is considered now unofficial.
After her decorated college career and turning professional, Lewis wasted no time becoming the face of American women’s golf. Lewis won her first major at Mission Hills in 2011 and added another with her AIG Women’s Open win at St. Andrews in 2013.
Lewis also won two LPGA Tour Player of the Year awards in 2012 and 2014. Between the 2011-2014 seasons, Lewis had a total of 11 wins and 14 additional runner up finishes. Lewis also played on four Solheim Cup teams and despite an underwhelming overall record, was a part of two wins. She represented the United States at the 2016 Olympics as well.
Lewis won the Portland Classic in 2017, donating all of her winnings to Hurricane Harvey relief. Lewis’s 13th and most recent win came in 2020 at the Scottish Open.
Lewis is also prominently known as a revolutionary captain for the United States Solheim Cup team. Lewis was the captain in both 2023 and 2024 and brought an analytical and statistics based philosophy to the position. It paid off as the United States ended its winless drought with a win in 2024.
