With a few groups still yet to finish up their first rounds at the 2025 Shoprite LPGA Classic, it is Elizabeth Szokol and Ilhee Lee that hold the lead after 18 holes.
Szokol got started super fast with birdies on the first five holes before a bogey on six. She responded well though with birdies on holes eight and nine to shoot -6 on the front. Her lone par was on the seventh hole. She didn’t score as well on the back, but was still solid making birdies on 13 and 16 while not dropping a shot.
Szokol hit 12/14 fairways on the day and hit 15 greens. When she got on the putting surface, she was elite, needing only 26 putts to get through her round.
Szokol, a 30-year-old from Chicago, has one career title on the LPGA Tour but has never won individually. Her only win was alongside Cheyenne Knight at the 2023 Dow Championship.
Ilhee Lee, a 36-year-old from Korea who is ranked No. 1426 in the world, is looking for her first win since 2013. Lee has been a great story in 2025, recently qualifying for the U.S. Women’s Open at Erin Hills.
Lee made five birdies on the front, four on the back and had just one dropped shot. Lee also hit 12 fairways but needed just 25 putts for her fantastic round.
