Through two days of stroke play at the Division I NCAA Women’s Golf Championships, Texas A&M finds itself on top of both the individual and team leaderboards.
While many teams struggled in Saturday’s second round, the Aggies thrived, shooting -4 as a team. Most of this thanks to sophomore Adele Cernousek, who leads the individual portion of the event. Cernousek shot her second consecutive -4 round, putting her at -8, two strokes clear of Clemson’s Annebelle Pancake.
Texas A&M is -11 for the tournament overall, five strokes ahead of Stanford. Stanford’s big names, sophomore Megha Ganne and senior Rachel Heck are both performing well, at -2 and -1 respectively.
Florida State sophomore Lottie Woad, who won the 2024 Augusta National Women’s Amateur, struggled mightily in round two after an incredible -7 65 in round one. She shot 74 in the second round and is currently three strokes off the lead.
For teams, the idea is to get into the top eight and qualify for the matchplay portion of the event. Currently those teams would be Texas A&M, Stanford, Clemson, UCLA, Auburn, LSU and Oregon. Northwestern and Arkansas are at the moment tied for the last spot, one stroke ahead of Duke in 10th.
