The AIG Women’s Open is back this week at Royal Porthcawl. Here are our picks for the most likely to win this week:
No. 5 – Ariya Jutanugarn – There hasn’t been a player more quietly consistent in 2025 than Ariya Jutanugarn. While she isn’t winning at the rate she was in the 2010’s, she has been playing well almost every week on Tour. Jutanugarn has made 10 cuts in 12 starts, and has six top-10 finishes. The most recent of those top 10s came last week at the Scottish Open. In her last eight starts, Jutanugarn has finished top 10 in seven of them, including three majors.
No. 4 – Hyo Joo Kim – Hyo Joo Kim is probably the safest bet of the week coming off her runner-up finish at the Scottish Open. Kim is a major champion with a lot of good results in the AIG Women’s Open in the past. 2025 has seen a return to form for the most underrated player on the LPGA Tour, she has a win and four additional top-10 finishes. Her irons and putting are as good as anyone when she is in strong form.
No. 3 – Somi Lee – There is a big question mark when it comes to Somi Lee, which is her ability to finish. She consistently puts herself firmly in contention and struggles late. She did win the Dow Championship alongside Jin Hee Im, though Im was doing a lot of heavy lifting in the final round. I do feel a lot of confidence in Lee to be in contention, like her Korean countrywoman Haeran Ryu, she has a knack for getting into the mix late. The biggest question this week is if she can finally lift a trophy individually.
No. 2 – Nelly Korda – Nelly Korda likely achieved her goal at the Scottish Open last week, getting used to links golf and gaining confidence in her play on that style of course. Korda has consistently been getting better on links courses after her runner-up finish at St. Andrews and her fifth place finish last week. She should feel good about her chances here at Porthcawl. Much of the hype around the No. 1 player in the world has been muted it feels like, but this feels like a great time to buy stock.
No. 1 – Lottie Woad – There is a part of me that wonders if the hype around Lottie Woad is too strong, but watching her mentality on the course really washes that away. There is nobody in the world of golf right now in better form, and the betting odds this week show that reality. Woad doesn’t give away unnecessary strokes, which is the strength of her game that makes me feel the strongest. Woad makes the putts she needs to and consistently hits elite wedge and iron shots. She currently has the world of golf in her hands.
