The Therese Hession Regional Challenge hosted by Ohio State returns this week with a planned Saturday to Monday event. The tournament had to be moved up one day because of potential weather.

The idea for the Therese Hession Regional Challenge came from Hession, who was the head coach at Ohio State, and Cathy Marino who was the head coach at SMU. The tournament was first played in 1996 as a kick-off to the Spring season for the best women’s golf teams in the country.

This year’s field doesn’t disappoint, featuring 11 of the top 25 teams in the country, including No. 1 Wake Forest, No. 4 UCLA and No. 5 USC.

The defending team champions, No. 7 Oregon, are back in the field this year as well. The individual champion in 2023 was LPGA star Rose Zhang of Stanford. Other past champions are LPGA Hall of Famer Lorena Ochoa and 2023 United States Solheim Cup member Andrea Lee.

The Therese Hession Regional Challenge once again is being played at Palos Verdes Golf Club in Southern Calif., where it has been held since its creation. Stay tuned here for more updates on the results.
