Two icons of women’s golf will be returning to the annual PNC parent-child tournament in Orlando, as Nelly Korda will be once again playing with her father Petr Korda, while Annika Sörenstam will be playing with her son Will.
The PNC Championship is an event that brings greats of every generation together the week before Christmas, to play either with a parent of theirs or a child. All participants must win either a major championship or The Players Championship on the PGA Tour, to qualify.
For the past few years, Korda and Sörenstam have been carrying the torches for professional women’s golf in an event that often features Tiger Woods, John Daly, Justin Thomas, Bernhard Langer and other legends past and present.
Team Korda played well their first time out, finishing in a tie for fifth, but struggled last year finishing in 13th. Korda will now be playing as at least a 14-time winner on the LPGA Tour and a two-time major champion after her incredible six win season.
Sörenstam, the greatest to ever play on the LPGA Tour, finished in 11th place alongside Will, who became a bit of a social media sensation because of his energy and strong play for a 12-year-old.
The overall field is still being finalized, but the past three champions, Bernhard Langer and his son Jason, Vijay Singh and his son Qass and John Daly and his son John Daly II have also committed.
