Another day, another dominant round by Japan’s Kaori Yamamoto, as she takes a commanding four-stroke lead heading into the third round of the U.S. Senior Women’s Open.
Yamamoto is one of only two players who have a round lower than 68, she has done it both days with dueling 67 on Thursday and Friday.
Yamamoto’s stats paint the portrait of dominance, outdriving the field average by 20 yards and clinically hitting greens, with 32 of 36 on the week so far. After being third in the field in putting on Thursday, she was eighth on Friday.
Behind Yamamoto is Italy’s Stefania Croce, who had a terrific second round 66, the lowest score of the week. Christa Johnson is also tied for second after a -1 Friday score. But this week is seemingly all about Yamamoto.
Annika Sörenstam and Juli Inkster both moved up the leaderboard in round two, sitting in a tie for fifth after both had fantastic rounds. They still sit well back, at -2, but are trending in the right direction.
Saturday’s third round will be on Peacock at 2 PM est. and the re-air will be on Golf Channel at 8 PM.
