For the first time since 2014, five-time major champion Yani Tseng is a winner on a major worldwide tour, winning the Wistron Ladies Open on the Ladies European Tour in her home country of Chinese Taipei.
In the two day tournament, Tseng took control right away in the opening round, shooting a -9 63 with no dropped shots. Tseng made nine birdies, four on the front and five on the back. No other player all week shot a round better than 65.
Coming into the second round of the Wistron Ladies Open with a three-stroke lead, Tseng maintained well despite two early bogeys. Tseng made eight birdies though compared to three dropped shots.
Tseng defeated New Zealand’s Amelia Garvey by four strokes, finishing -14 for the week.
Tseng has been working to make her return for the last couple years, playing in the majors the last two seasons, making her first cut at the AIG Women’s Open. It was her first made cut in a major since 2017.
Tseng also made the well publicized choice to switch to left-handed putting, which paid off this week.
