March Madness is here and so are the brackets. So for this special series on the College Corner, I let each school’s women’s golf programs determine my bracket.
I used the NCAA Women’s Golf weighted points rankings to seed every team 1-68, thus determining who will advance in each round. If a school does not have a women’s golf program, I did not let them advance. Let’s take a look at the women’s 2024 bracket:
Thankfully, this bracket looks like it stands a much better chance than the men’s bracket. We have only No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in the final four, which is a great sign and probably shows something about what schools invest well in their women’s sports.
Unfortunately, Caitlin Clark and Iowa get knocked out of the toughest region in the sweet 16. As the Pac 12 is strong in both women’s basketball and golf, it is no surprise to see three programs representing the conference in the final four. In the end, the No. 1 ranking for Stanford is enough to defeat the No. 2 ranking for UCLA.
The next few weeks, we will continue to update the current status of the bracket and how effective it was in predicting the results.
