Solheim Cup team Europe has announced its four assistant captains for the 2024 edition of the event.
Returning for 2024 are Laura Davies, Anna Nordqvist and Caroline Martens. Joining this group, captain Suzann Pettersen has added Mel Reid, on the staff for her first time.
Davies, one of the greatest players ever, is back again as an assistant. In her career she has 20 LPGA Tour wins, 45 LET wins and four major titles. She made 12 career Solheim Cup appearances, going 22-18-6 overall.
Anna Nordqvist will return as an assistant captain in 2024 and likely will be a playing captain for the second year in a row. Nordqvist is a three-time major champion who has played in eight Solheim Cups. In her Solheim career, Nordqvist is 15-13-3.
Caroline Martens has never won on the LPGA Tour, LET or has played in a Solheim Cup, but she is back for the second year in a row likely because of how well she works with fellow Norwegian Pettersen.
The newcomer is Mel Reid (above), a fairly obvious choice. Reid has won six times on the LET and once on the LPGA Tour. In her four Solheim Cup appearances she is only 6-7-3, but is known for bringing fire and energy to a team.
The United States announced its captains last weekend. The only step left is to fill out the rosters.
